Aspiring Professional
This class meets 4th block (either first semester of second semester, at LEAD Innovation Studio. The course focuses on exposing students to industry professionals in an industry in which the students have expressed an interest. Students complete 4 weeks of onboarding work at the start of the semester. Afterwards, they spend 13 weeks at their internship locations. Students return to class each Wednesday for 1 on 1 mentoring and to continue their work on various topics of professionalism. |
Aspiring Educators
This class meets 3rd and 4th blocks (either first semester of second semester) at a PH Elementary School. This course focuses on exposing students to various aspects of careers in education. Students complete 11 weeks of curriculum in the classroom and 6 weeks of shadowing in different classrooms throughout the district. |
Aspiring Medical Professionals
Meets 1st or 4th blocks (either first semester of second semester) at the St. Luke's North Hospital Campus. The course focuses on exposing students to a wide variety of health care professions while developing professional skills necessary for the workforce. Students complete 3 weeks of onboarding work at the start of the semester. Afterwards they alternate - spending 1 week in the classroom and 1 week in the hospital. |

Northland CAPS students solve real world problems, using business standard software, equipment and are mentored by real employers. Students gain experience working with real businesses, assisting and learning through meaningful projects. Early career professional skills like project management, creativity, business ethics, teamwork and time management are instructed, role modeled and measured. Learning at Northland CAPS is real-time, real-world and hands-on. Emphasis is placed on developing professional skills, such as communication and collaboration, which employers deem highly important to individual success. |

The Early College program is offered on our MCC's Business & Technology campus, located in Kansas City. The program attracts high school students pursuing careers in the high-demand technical fields of engineering technology, industrial technology and computer integrated machining and manufacturing. Students attend classes from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. weekdays on the MCC-Business & Technology campus, 1775 Universal Ave. Tuition is paid by the student's home school district. Take advantage of your opportunity to not only work toward a college certificate or degree, but also position yourself for paid internships and careers at no cost to you.
Next year, current sophomores and juniors will be able to sign up for new college programs through MCC-Business & Technology Center (BTC) from which students can earn 42-45 college credits…for FREE! The Early College Program has four degree programs: During 2 blocks of the day for up to four semesters, students can earn hours toward a certificate in these fields and be qualified for $15+ per hour internships and jobs earning over $50,000, right after high school! And all of the credits earned during high school are paid for by Park Hill School District!
